Wild ski in the 3 Vallées

Roadbook

Let’s be clear, skiing in the world’s largest ski area and making your own tracks seems impossible if you only ski downhill. If you want to have a chance of finding fresh snow, you’ll have to be clever. Ski skins are the obvious choice for getting away from the crowds and enjoying some great skiing. What’s more, they provide safety by avoiding large exposed traverses and allowing you to climb back up in case of problems. As you can see, at Altitude, we prefer WITH!

The Orelle resort, the ski school and Altitude guides have a long history together! We are delighted to finally be able to formalise our partnership and, above all, to share our in-depth knowledge of the area with you. Some of our guides and instructors have been exploring the secret corners of Orelle, Val Thorens and the 3 Valleys for over 25 years. That’s enough to guarantee you a great day’s skiing.

From the top of the Bouchet chairlift, the highest point in the 3 Valleys, the wildest off-piste routes in the 3 Valleys open up before us. The beautiful Col de Gébroulaz and its north-facing glacier lead down to Méribel. Or there’s the south face of the Dome de Polset and its various descents to the Polset valley, where a short taxi ride will take us back to Orelle at the end of the day. For the more adventurous, the Bon Martin couloir is the place to ski in this area! From the Caron cable car, the entire Mont Brequin and Col des Encombres area is also within easy reach. This gentler terrain will delight beginner skiers looking for wide open spaces.

Discover the 3 valleys via the ski slopes. Are you visiting Orelle with your family and want to discover the 3 valleys via the slopes? We’ll take care of everything! Priority in queues, lift closing times, great restaurant recommendations for lunch… let us guide you.

The Peclet-Polset massif is the western part of the Vanoise National Park. Orelle/Val Thorens is therefore an excellent starting point for a ski tour from refuge to refuge. For example, on the first day you can reach the comfortable Roc refuge for the night. Then cross the Col d’Aussois to reach the iconic Refuge de la Dent Parrachée. The next day, the ascent of the Col de la Masse brings you just a few kilometres from your starting point in Orelle. This means you can easily enjoy three days of skiing and two nights’ accommodation.
